Home for Children and Youth under Parking House

The Youth Centre under a Parking Garage is located in Pragues Žižkov district on a plot between Biskupcova and Jeseniova Streets. The scheme converts an existing reinforced-concrete parking hall into a two-storey facility for childrens leisure and educational activities, while adding a five-storey parking structure with 135 spaces above it. This vertical stacking minimises land take and creates a new public courtyard with a community garden. Re-using the original concrete shell reduces material impact; green roofs, vine-clad ventilation louvres and a 4 × 4 m³ rain-water retention system improve the micro-climate and manage storm water. The barrier-free building accommodates up to 265 users of the Youth Centre and offers Žižkov a new focus for community life.
