METROPOLITAN HOUSE VINOHRADY

Královské Vinohrady has always been a prestigious residential quarter placed in central Prague with an integrated character and mostly uniform urban pattern caused by its fast and dynamic growth. One of the very last unbuilt grounds is located in the hearth of the quarter next to the National House on the corner of Slezská and Blanická street. This thesis is focused on completion of this urban block and definition of the right propose and form of so called Metropolitan house. The emphasis was also put on the way of intervention of this proposal with the city's historical structure and the quality of several great surrounding buildings. Part of the thesis was an examination of the standard and comfort of living suitable for this significant area including alternative models of co-housing, which could exploit the maximal potential from the site.
