FUNERAL HALL IN KROMĚŘÍŽ

The diploma thesis deals with the topic of a funeral hall in Kromeriz, Czech Republic, which comes from the city's incentive to replace the current and unsuitable funeral hall in the area of the city's main cemetery. In the analytic part is researched the topic of a social significance of farewell rituals, death and a cemetery as a place of the final rest in the town's context. The aim of the project was to create a dignified and affable building for the act of the last farewell to the dead. The design is suitably situated to the geometric plan of the city's cemetery and determines the best way possible the specific type of public space around. With its form that defines itself against the disruptive surroundings, it simultaneously creates an intimate and confidential site of grief for its visitors.
