Nursing House

On the place of medieval vineyards belonging to Strahov premonstrates was established a medical facility, unique in its location near Prague Castle. A nursing home is designed on the premises of this hospital, in the historical part of Prague. In total, the building has four floors, the first floor is on the north and west side below ground level. The ground plan is based on a mass solution – six masses interconnected by internal communication form a structure with two outside atriums. The very concept is based on monastic architecture. For seniors are designed one and two-room apartments, social spaces and medical facilities. There are apartments for students in the attic floor. This intergeneration cohousing aims to bring benefits to both groups of residents. The design is unified by one material, it is a pigmented concrete in pink-red hue.
