THE TOWN IN BETWEEN RIVERS, TOPOGRAPHICAL IDENTITY OF VELKÉ MEZIŘÍČÍ

Diploma project is concerned with rivers in Velké Meziříčí. In history they set the place for city and its shape. Later on the city grows in its own ways in principle far from rivers. The rivers are considered as base of local identity. Urban design operates in two scales. In citywide view it focus on gathering paths of people and rivers more often. There are new footbridges and paths designed and historical artificial channels are revealed. The project closely looks at riverside at city centre. River as centre of designed space. The line that links various atmospheres. Designed space is understood as public inside. Common city space which is characteristic for Velké Meziříčí, city in between rivers.
