Annotation

The primary school Hanspaulka is terraced two-floor building which is partly sunken. The shape of the building is adapt to open to the sunlight and to the extraordinary view of all classes. The land in front of the building (the north side), is public. It is arranged as a park with high deciduous trees, it's equipped with benches and playground. The proposal that this space will be used by the parents, schoolchildren and their younger siblings. It is accessible to the public, but it is managed and controlled by the school - the doorkeeper can see on the playground. The heart of the building is the atrium. This common space works like the main vertical communication between the 2nd floor and the 1st floor, but it´s also space where the pupils spend leisure. The atrium consists of prefabricated parts of staircases, larger stairs, slides and climbing walls. Big space under the stair allows variable placement of tables and offers a lot of space arrangements. Apart from using Atrium during the snack, it could by use for parties, children's concerts, lectures, courses and various meeting. You can enter to the atrium directly from the entrance hall. The space between the hall and the atrium is transparent for visibility and easy orientation. From the atrium you can go out to the garden, but also to all parts of the building - to the part of the administration, where are the offices, headmaster´s office and teacher´s lounge, to the part for younger, which is located closest to the for their easy orientation, to both parts for older. In the first part there are home classrooms, in the second part there are classroom of biology, computers, art education and workshop. The second part ends with a dining room. The building is adapted for use by persons with limited mobility. The handicapped person have equal access and movement in the building as persons without handicap. It contributes to the efforts of Czech education to include pupils with different disabilities into society.
