Jan Derka

Architecture and Urbanism, MA diploma project

Annotation

The thesis was to design a corner multifunctional house on a plot at the western entrance of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk square in Vyškov and to design a new urban structure in its immediate surroundings. Part of the thesis is also an essay that seeks answers to why Vyškovské Square is dying why it does not fulfill its social function. This is mainly based on hard data and news articles. The ground floor of the house occupies the entire area of the parcel and has a commercial function. A passage passes through it, which is the extension of the square and the entrance. The entrance passes through the vertical mass accentuating the corner.
