The goal of my audiobook player is to make the hobby of reading accessible to visually impaired people, who are not very capable of using modern technologies, i.e. mainly to older adults. On the market there are a lot of various players which can be used for playing audiobooks, but most of them do not meet the basic needs of visually impaired users such as recognizable shapes of buttons, easy holding and non-slip shape or portability. The aim of my design is to eliminate these basic barriers and make the interaction with the user as intuitive and simple as possible. The simplicity is also applied to the whole shape of the player making it pleasant to touch, almost like an anti-stress object without any unnecessary parts. The concept, functions and design have been consulted in the Karel design studio with the HCI group at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and tested with visually impaired people and seniors.
