Transformation of Former Military Courtyard in Karlin

The courtyard of the Karlin barracks is almost one hecture large place near to Negrelli viaduct, Florenc and Vítkov hill. The place is nowadays in a neglected state.The design refers to the original purpose of the site - parade ground, and transforms into a ratter into a grid in the pavement. In contrast to grid, there are grassed hills in shape of egg with trees. The whole area is divided into two types of zones. The first one is relaxing part with seating area and misting system. The second one is an open space in the centre of courtyard, where the grid is used for modular installitations and countless variations of constructions, which is connected with intervation of artists. In south building, there is a café runs by local community with obvious interest in courtyard. In future, there could be concerts, markets, projections of movies, dancing nights, etc.
