The Jewish Museum in Kosice

Annotation

The museum on the "Hay fair" street of Kosice resembles a cut, a scar on the face of the town. The subject hidden under the surface translates into literally hiding the exhibition spaces under the ground. The entrance foyer with a cafe rise above ground as well as the volume representing the Holocaust does. This volume runs through all the underground floors and it is possible to lurk in from the ground level. The building has 2 above-ground floors and 2 underground ones. The Holocaust volume runs in the bigger volume via a small bridge that connects the two rooftops one can walk on. The goal of the project was to create a respectable place in Kosice for remembering a significant part of its history.
