Poplar (re)connected

Poplar is a small district in East London, part of the borough of Tower Hamlets. Our proposal is built on two assumptions: considerable population growth is expected in the upcoming years (Tower Hamlets, 2018) and environmental issues must be at the forefront of all developments in order to mitigate the negative effects of air pollution along with adapting to increased risks of extreme weather conditions. The strategies are focused on creating comfortable and sustainable places for future residents while ensuring that the current ones are not forced to leave, by increasing the housing supply. They are focused on increasing the housing supply, improving public spaces, creating social and geographical cohesion and creating spaces for innovation and growth.
