The Philharmonic

Jan Fišer

Annotation

The area between Bulhar and Hlávka Bridge was once cut by a concrete seam – a highway that formed a barrier between Karlín and the city’s heart. We chose to heal this scar, pull the machines down to earth and restore a human scale to the city. In its place now pulses an urban boulevard, lined with trees and culture. Already from Hlávka Bridge, we see the gentle silhouette of a figure, cloaked in a veil that drifts in the night light. The Philharmonic. Its face, like a translucent cape. Inside, two concert halls are born like pearls, resembling nuts hiding music in its purest form beneath their shells. Around them, viewer silhouettes flicker, like notes in scattered space. It lives with the city, breathes its rhythm, yet brings inner peace.
