Prague fortification belt - Florenc

The proposal addresses the transformation of the fortification belt by removing the flyover of arterial road and replacing it with an urban boulevard. It follows the historical footprint of the walls and transforms the area from a traffic barrier into a connecting urban axis. The new boulevard provides a quality public space with sidewalks, bike paths and tree lines, restoring human scale and supporting everyday life. It transforms the belt into a vibrant, full-fledged urban district with cultural institutions, squares and a block structure that naturally connects Karlín to the New Town. The transit character is disappearing and space for community is emerging. The development complements the urban structure and enlivens the parterre.
