Annotation
The new park strip dissolves the hard border between Nové Město and Karlín and transforms the inhospitable semi-space into a lively axis of the city. The rhythm of passing cars will be replaced by the rhythm of tree-lined avenues, public buildings and open spaces. The formerly peripheral landscape is gaining an urban expression, returning to human scale, returning to the people.
The new building of the Museum of the City of Prague grows on the line of the park strip and enters into a dialogue with its older counterpart based on mutual respect. It respectfully mirrors the bulk and solemnity of its older counterpart, yet brings a new layer of meaning. It is a house that does not compete, but modestly responds in contemporary language.
