Annotation

'Rump' is an english word that describes the back of a mammal's body or the lower part of a bird. The second meaning of the word is 'a small and/or insignificant remnant of something originally larger'. At the site of today's Radovesice landfill near Bílina, until 1971, there were five villages - Chotovenka, Dřínek, Lyskovice, Hetov and Radovesice. The villages were hence demolished, and since then the soil from Velkolom Bílina has been deposited here. RÚMPS aim to serve as reminders of these villages – as "little remnants" of something that used to be present; as "insignificant evidence" that people once lived there. These structures deliberately don't have an end or a beginning – where the a** or the head is. The interpretation of the shape is left to the observer.
