Choteč under surgery

The municipality of Choteč is located approximately 1 km from the boundary of the capital city of Prague; however, its character is entirely different. Despite strong suburbanisation pressures, the village has retained its historical urban structure and the scale of a rural settlement. The proposal focuses on the transformation of the built-up area of the municipality. It views the settlement as a living organism – streets are perceived as arteries and the village green as its heart. The aim of the project was not a radical intervention, but rather a subtle surgery intended to improve the functioning of the whole.
