BIKETIME

The design focuses on the urban mobility environment, specifically on shared bicycles, where time plays a crucial role not only from a practical but also from an economic point of view. The work centres on the design of a mechanical timer that responds to the needs of users. The resulting robust appearance of the timer is derived from the nature of shared bikes themselves. The emphasis is laid primarily on clarity of information – quick reading of the remaining time is ensured by a sliding strip that moves simultaneously with the hand. The timer is powered by a mechanism similar to a kitchen timer. It is therefore a fully mechanical solution that does not require the use of electronics.
