Monastery Reconnected

Eliska Panenková

Annotation

Today, the purpose of modern monasteries is questioned not only by atheists, but also by religious orders and theologians themselves. The project Monastery Reconnected offers one possible answer, which is based on three fundamental principles: 1. its activities will correspond to the religious order’s mission 2. the city or region needs the order’s work 3. the monastery complex will, through its presence, heal both people and the place itself Klášter Reconnected is a joint monastery of the Order of Merciful Brothers and the Sisters of St. Elizabeth, and a therapeutic center for people suffering from burnout. It is adapting premises of a dilapidated manor house in Sedlec, Karlovy Vary, and restoring the place’s dignity and importance within the local community and the region.
