the longhouses of smíchov
Annotation
Just as the waters of Vltava hit the cliffs of Vyšehrad and create many meanders, bays and islands in the territory of Prague, the same way the proposed kilometer-long house breaks dynamically. Floating fragments and firmly anchored blocks alternate rhythmically as well as the functions of the houses that form the urban structure. The houses complement the expanding area of Smíchov with new forms of housing and generous work spaces in close contact to the post-industrial surroundings of the Smíchov port.
