ROZDĚLOV UNITES

I have placed starter public housing in the water tower in the Rozdělov district of Kladno, preserving its water supply function. The tank remained untouched, with residential units inserted between rings of the original reinforced concrete structure. The concept was shaped by two distinctive elements — the star-shaped skeleton and the spiral ramp in the tower’s support shaft. The skeleton defines spatial layout, while the ramp defines the entrances to the individual units and thus their overall layout. Housing was introduced in the top three floors, each containing a pair of duplex flats sharing an entrance area, also serving as communal space and an outdoor terrace. The layout encourages natural interaction and strengthens community ties.
