On the Roof

The proposal responds to the need for new forms of student housing in an urban environment where every available space is an opportunity to create something meaningful. In a place where life was previously absent, a residential structure is emerging - a new layer of the city that is not imposing, but opening up. Here, residential units are not closed cells, but part of a larger whole that gives space not only for privacy, but above all for sharing, meeting and flowing. The two-storey common room forms the heart of the whole house. It is a space where stillness and bustle, solitude and conversation, individual concentration and collective fun meet. In addition to this, there are other zones- places where ordinary accommodation becomes a home.
