The aim of this research project is to investigate and analyze border cooperation and interface between European regions, focusing on policies and strategies as well as case particular case studies that embrace sustainability as a priority and are relevant to the historical, economic and cultural contexts between the Czech Republic and surrounding neighbors. Investigation and surveys will be divided into the following headings: a. Legal framework and policy, their interface in border conditions, b. Approaches to public participation, c. Agro-ecosystem foodsheds, their effect on the border landscape, d. Role of planning and design professionals, particularly the landscape architect, in contributing to decision making in the public realm. Each of the investigators, according to their expertise and scientific interest focuses on one of these facets as relevant to the borders between the Czech Republic and neighboring countries, in their fyzical and also mentional meaning.
