International Office

The International Office provides students and employees with services related to international activities in which the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague is involved.

It arranges for international students to stay and study at our faculty. It accepts teachers and students from foreign universities on a reciprocal basis, by invitation, and through other means.

admission procedure

  1. Applying for the Erasmus+ program

Students can apply for the Erasmus+ program via the Mobility application. In the application, they can choose three preferred universities for each semester, prove their foreign language proficiency, and submit the application. When choosing a university, the key factor is the language in which the university teaches. Detailed information on proving your foreign language proficiency can be found in the section Proof of foreign language proficiency.

Only those who are actively studying at the time of application can apply. To log in to the Mobility application, use your KOS login details.

  2. Application deadlines

    • 1st round: November – December
    • 2nd round: March
    • 3rd round: June

The CTU Rector's Office decides on the announcement of the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the selection procedure based on consultation with faculty coordinators.

In the Mobility application, select the correct selection procedure in the Overview of Dates section. Pay attention to the validity of the selection procedure, the correct round, and the mobility program. You may also encounter older, invalid selection procedures.

  3. Who can sign up

Master's degree students are eligible to participate in the Erasmus+ program. The selection process takes place one year before the planned departure, so third-year bachelor's students and first-year master's students apply.

The only exception is the Double Degree program, for which master's degree students apply during their first semester.

  4. Choosing a university and field of study

In the Mobility application, you can only choose universities where you can study the following fields: Architecture and Urban Planning (code 0731), Architecture (code 0581), Design (code 0212), or Landscape Architecture (code 0739). Sometimes, Landscape Architecture may not have a specific code, and code 0731 is used instead. Check the FA website for a list of partner schools, which includes the correct codes and study programs – use the study program filter to find your way around.

On the FA website, in the list of partner schools, you can also check whether a given university has an Erasmus+ agreement, what language is used for teaching, and what the capacity of the agreement is.

This table shows the level of interest in individual universities in 2025/2026.

  5. Length of stay

The stay usually lasts one semester – winter or summer. However, it is also possible to go for both semesters to two different schools or for the whole year to one school. Some universities have specific requirements regarding nominations for individual semesters or the whole year.

    Examples:

Antwerp only accepts students for the winter semester.

In Coimbra, it is mandatory to complete the entire academic year, as the studios are two-semester programs. The stay in Coimbra consists of one semester with an Erasmus+ grant and the second semester as a zero grant (without financial support, but without paying tuition fees). If you choose Coimbra, select a full-year stay.

In Valencia (UP Valencia), students are only accepted for the winter semester or for the entire year.

  6. Proof of foreign language proficiency

Each foreign school has an official language for teaching, knowledge of which is required and assessed in the selection process. The information in Mobility is approximate; the binding requirements of individual schools are listed in the list of partner schools

You can prove your language proficiency in the following ways:

    • Certificate (e.g., from an international or state language exam),

    • Course evaluation of Professional Language I

    • By taking a language test (for students who have not completed the Professional Language I course or do not want to use their grade), registration takes place via Mobility.

For French, Italian, and Spanish, proof of completion of bilingual sections of secondary school is also required.

Information on the number of points awarded for certificates and exams in specialized languages is available here.

    General Rules

    • Certificate validity: Certificates must not be older than 4 years.

    • Test validity: If you have taken the test in previous rounds of the selection process, you can use the results.

    • Upload your certificates to your Mobility application. Upload your professional language test results as a screenshot from KOS.

Recognized certificates: TOEFL, IELTS, CAE, FCE, DELF-DALF, TCF, UNIcert, DELE, CILS, CELI, PLIDA.

Some foreign schools offer a limited selection of subjects in English, and students can also enroll in subjects outside the English study program. These schools may require proof of knowledge of the main language of instruction (French, Italian, or Spanish), for example, by providing confirmation of completion of a language course.

  7. Jazykové testy

Absolvování jazykového testu je určeno pro studující, kteří:

    • nemají splněný předmět Odborný jazyk I

  8. Submitting an application

Before submitting, check all the information, select the method of proving your foreign language proficiency, and send the application. Unsent applications are invalid. After submitting the application, the Vice-dean for Education will decide on its approval. Reasons for rejection may include:

    • Grade point average worse than 2.2.

    • Insufficient number of free credits (at least 20 free credits are required).

Unapproved applications will not proceed to the next stage of the selection process.

  9. Selecting a foreign school via the faculty online system

The selection of foreign schools for FA CTU students takes place via an online application on the faculty website. The exact procedure and selection criteria are described in the methodological guidelines.

Only students who meet the following criteria will be included in the selection process of the Faculty of Architecture, CTU(FA CTU):

    • have successfully applied for a study stay in the Mobility application,

    • have their trip approved by the Vice-Dean for Education,

    • and have fulfilled at least one of the following conditions by the required deadline:

      • uploaded a language certificate to the Mobility application,
      • uploaded a screenshot from KOS with the result of the subject Professional Language I to the Mobility application

      • successfully passed the language test at FA CTU.

The selection process at FA CTU takes place in two rounds via an electronic application available on the faculty's website. Places at foreign schools are allocated based on the total score and preferences stated in the application. In the event of a tie, priority is given to students who plan to travel to one foreign school for the entire academic year.

    The point score consists of:

    • 70% academic results (weighted average for the entire course of study),

    • 30% language score,

    • +1 bonus point for active participation in the Erasmus Student Network (ESN). Active participation is defined as at least 3 months of involvement in activities, which must be confirmed by the ESN organization.

Round 1 of the selection process:
The application automatically processes data from Mobility. School preferences are determined based on the order of semesters and schools listed in the application. Each applicant is assigned one school in Round 1.

Round 2 of the selection process:

The following may apply for the second round:

    • students who did not obtain a place in the first round or did not accept the offer they were given,

    • students who are interested in spending two semesters at different schools.

In the FA application, applicants can choose an unlimited number of foreign schools with available capacity. Places are allocated in the same way as in the first round.

  10. Nomination for a foreign university

The nomination process is as follows: Erasmus+ assistant Terézia Jancíková will enter your details into the foreign university's system and create a card for you in the Mobility application. After the nomination deadline, the foreign school will inform you about the next steps (usually creating an application using the access details sent to you).

After nomination, you will communicate directly with the foreign school. Fill out the application form according to the instructions of the foreign university and meet the deadline for submission.

    Nomination deadlines:

Winter semester: March – June (most universities will respond by the end of April, Spain, Italy, Greece, and France by mid-June).

Summer semester: September–November (most universities will respond by the end of October, Spain, Italy, Greece, and France by the end of November).

Nomination does not guarantee admission to a foreign university.

  11. Administrative tasks before departure

    A) Comparison sheet

A document in which you propose how courses completed at a foreign school will be recognized at the Faculty of Architecture, Czech Technical University in Prague. The comparison sheet is an internal document of the faculty and is used only for its needs. Download here. Procedure:

    • Please submit the completed Comparison sheet in person or send it by email to Kristýna Sedlaříková the International Office (room no. 147) for the vice-dean's signature.

Check that you have all the documents and that the information is correctly filled in (including your account number and contact details for a close relative) at least three weeks before departure.

Sign the financial Grant agreement at least two weeks before departure in order to receive your Erasmus+ grant. Log in via the questionnaire to sign the agreement.

  13. Shortening and extending your stay

If a student needs to shorten the length of their stay abroad, they must fill out the Request for Shortening of Stay form. The signed request must be sent to the Vice-Dean for International Relations for approval. The student must then upload a scanned copy of the document to the Mobility system.

If a student wishes to extend their stay abroad, they must first contact the Vice-Dean for Education. They must then fill out the Request for Extension of Stay form, have it approved, and upload the signed document to the Mobility system.

    • In person signing of the Participation Agreement at the CTU Rector's Office (8th floor).
    • After signing the agreement, 80% of the scholarship is paid in advance.
  7. During the internship

Students are required to regularly upload monthly reports to the Mobility system.

Graduates should send their reports by email to the rector's coordinator: Bc. Bohdan Orlovbohdan.orlov@cvut.cz

If you need to extend or shorten your internship, you must contact the coordinator in advance.

  8. Upon return

Upon return, the following documents must be submitted:

    • Certificate of Traineeship (original),
    • Final report – uploaded to the Mobility system (Files section),
    • Participant Survey – will be sent automatically by email from the European portal.
