admission procedure

  1. Applying for the MBD program

Students can apply for the MBD program via the Mobility application. In the application, they can choose three preferred universities for each semester, prove their foreign language proficiency, and submit the application. When choosing a university, the key factor is the language in which the university teaches. Detailed information on proving your foreign language proficiency can be found in the section Proof of foreign language proficiency.

Only those who are actively studying at the time of application can apply. To log in to the Mobility application, use your KOS login details.

  2. Application deadlines

    • 1st round: November – December
    • 2nd round: March
    • 3rd round: June

The CTU Rector's Office decides on the announcement of the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the selection procedure based on consultation with faculty coordinators.

In the Mobility application, select the correct selection procedure in the Overview of Dates section. Pay attention to the validity of the selection procedure, the correct round, and the mobility program. You may also encounter older, invalid selection procedures.

  3. Who can sign up

Master's degree students are eligible to participate in the MBD program. The selection process takes place one year before the planned departure, so third-year bachelor's students and first-year master's students apply.

  4. Choosing a university

You can find the list of partner universities on this page. An overview of destinations where FA students have traveled in the past, including the subjects studied, is available here.

We recommend checking the foreign university's website in advance to see if it offers suitable courses for your studies – especially the availability of studios.

  5. Length of stay

The study abroad program is available:

    • for one semester (winter or summer) at one school,

    • for the entire academic year at one school,

    • for both semesters at two different schools.

  6. Proof of foreign language proficiency

Teaching at foreign universities is usually carried out in English. However, some schools teach in the language of the country itself, which mainly applies to universities in Latin America and most French-speaking universities in Canada.

If you choose one of these schools, you will need to send confirmation of your knowledge of the relevant language (French or Spanish) to lucie.edlmanova@cvut.cz after submitting your application.

You can prove your language proficiency in the following ways:

    • Certificate from an international or state language exam (for example TOEFL, IELTS, CAE, FCE, DELF-DALF, TCF, UNIcert, DELE, CILS, CELI, PLIDA) – certificate cannot be older than 4 years.

    • By completing the language test, registration takes place via Mobility. If you have taken the test in previous rounds, you can use its results.

    • Confirmation of completion of a language course or other document issued by the Cabinet of languages.

    • Course evaluation of Professional Language I.

If you score 10 or more points in the written English test, you will proceed to the oral interview. You will receive information about the interview dates by email after the written tests have been completed.

  7. Submitting an application

Before submitting, check all the information, select the method of proving your foreign language proficiency, and send the application. Unsent applications are invalid. After submitting the application, the Vice-dean for Education will decide on its approval. Reasons for rejection may include:

    • Grade point average worse than 2.2.

    • Insufficient number of free credits (at least 20 free credits are required).

Unapproved applications will not proceed to the next stage of the selection process.

  8. Selection procedure at the Rectorate

All students participating in the selection process will find the results of the written tests and subsequent oral interviews directly in their Mobility application.

If you successfully pass the selection process, we will try to offer you a place at one of the universities you listed in your application. Students compete with other CTU students, and placements are assigned based on the total number of points earned in the selection process.

    Selection is based on:

    • grade point average – 60 %,

    • language score – 20 %,

    • oral interview – 20 %.

    Bonus points:
You can earn +3 extra points for active participation in the Erasmus Student Network (ESN). Active participation means at least three months of involvement in activities, which must be confirmed by the ESN organization.

  9. Nomination for a foreign university

A nomination will be sent to you in the Mobility system. It will be up to you whether you accept or reject the university offered.

If your overall score is not sufficient for the selected university, we will offer you another school, or you can wait for the next round and apply again.

Nomination does not guarantee admission to a foreign university.

  10. Administrative tasks before departure

    A) Comparison sheet

A document in which you propose how courses completed at a foreign school will be recognized at the Faculty of Architecture, Czech Technical University in Prague. The comparison sheet is an internal document of the faculty and is used only for its needs. You can donwload it from Mobility. Procedure:

    • Please submit the completed Comparison sheet in person or send it by email to Kristýna Sedlaříková the International Office (room no. 147) for the vice-dean's signature.
    • Credit recognition: Studios are typically recognized as ATVZ for 11 ECTS credits. Elective courses are recognized according to the number of credits earned at the foreign school (please indicate the name of the elective course). If the ECTS credit ratio is not 1:1, please attach a conversion table from the foreign school's website.
    • After signing, a scan will be sent to your email address.
    • You will then upload this document to the Mobility application.
    • Any changes must be approved by the FA International Office – a new comparison sheet must be created and the Learning Agreement must be updated.

    B) Transcript of Records and Confirmation of Study before Departure

    • You can generate your Transcript of Records yourself directly from KOS as a List of Completed Courses, then upload it to the application form from the foreign school.
    • You can also generate a confirmation of study yourself from KOS. If a foreign school requires confirmation for the upcoming semester, Kristýna Sedlaříková at the International Office will issue it.

    c) Other necessary documents

    • After obtaining signatures on the Comparison sheet, Learning Agreement, and receiving the Letter of Acceptance from the foreign university, upload all documents to your card in the Mobility application.
    • You arrange your own travel insurance and upload the insurance contract to Mobility.
    • Before departure, you must upload the following to Mobility: Letter of acceptance, Confirmation of study, approved Comparison sheet and Insurance contract.
  11. Financial agreement

Once you receive an invitation letter from a foreign university or a visa from a foreign embassy, you can generate a financial agreement from your student card in Mobility. Bring two signed copies to the International Office of the Rector's Office, to Lucie Edlmanová.

  12. Shortening and extending your stay

If a student needs to shorten the length of their stay abroad, they must fill out the Request for Shortening of Stay form. The signed request must be sent to the Vice-Dean for International Relations for approval. The student must then upload a scanned copy of the document to the Mobility system.

If a student wishes to extend their stay abroad, they must first contact the Vice-Dean for Education. They must then fill out the Request for Extension of Stay form, have it approved, and upload the signed document to the Mobility system.
