Coronavirus: CTU canceled lessons for the period from 10th to 22nd March

The Rector of CTU in Prague has taken the following measures to mitigate the spread of infection by coronavirus. The CTU INTERRUPTS TEACHING from tomorrow, ie from 10th to 22nd March 2020, with the possibility of extension according to the development of the overall situation, at all faculties and parts of the university, canceling all foreign trips and receiving foreign visits, all CTU conferences and social events in Prague; sets up a system of increased protection for CTU employees in risk groups.

All these measures were determined on the basis of a detailed analysis of the potential impacts of the epidemic and the nature of its evolution, involving all the heads of individual components so as to cover the widest possible range of risks. The proposed measures were discussed at today's Rector's Board of CTU in Prague and they were clearly supported by all faculties and parts of the university. The primary objective of this measure is to reduce the likelihood of covert transmission in large numbers of people and to protect those at increased risk of serious consequences of coronavirus infection.

“It is necessary to realize that the infectious growth curve has universal behavior, where after a controlled slow growth there is a very sharp uncontrollable growth. There is no need to panic, but there is a need to reduce the risk of transmission, and therefore, after careful consideration with the management of CTU, I issued an instruction to put into operation other protective measures, ” said CTU Rector Vojtěch Petráček.
