Memorandum of Cooperation between the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University and the North Bohemian Museum in Liberec
10/10/2025
The basis for this intensive cooperation was an exhibition and publication commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of architect Karel Hubáček in 2024. This year, both institutions are collaborating on the restoration of Hubáček's house (DKH), which has been open to the public since last year. Upcoming joint projects include exhibitions dedicated to architects Miroslav Masák, Otakar Binar, and Pavel Švancer, as well as a conference and exhibition of works by graduates of the legendary SIAL School.
An important part of the collaboration is also mapping the oral history of living witnesses and acquisition activities aimed at preserving original plans, photographs, artifacts, building elements, interior furnishings, and personal collections of important figures. These materials will be collected in the newly established Architecture Documentation Center of the North Bohemian Museum in Liberec.
A new section dedicated to the mountain hotel and transmitter on Ještěd is also being prepared as part of the museum's permanent exhibition. This project also builds on the long-term scientific and research activities of the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague, which in the past organized a professional colloquium on the future of this extraordinary building, prepared a passportization of the interiors and other materials that contributed to the inclusion of Ještěd on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. Other professional and academic institutions will also participate in the planned activities.
