A leading historian of 20th-century Slovak architecture. He joined the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague (FA CTU) in 2008 from Bratislava, where he graduated in architecture from the Slovak University of Technology (1974) and later became a professor (2000). He also worked at the Slovak Academy of Sciences, focusing on the history of 20th-century architecture and serving as editor-in-chief of the journal Architektúra & urbanizmus. His most frequently cited monograph is Architektúra Slovenska 20. storočia (Architecture of Slovakia in the 20th Century, 2002). He also authored a monograph on the founder of modern Slovak architecture titled Architect Emil Belluš (2010). At FA CTU, he served as Vice-Dean for Research and, since 2008, headed the Institute of Theory and History of Architecture, where he and his colleagues compiled the book Chapters from the History of Housing (2014). For his theoretical work, he received numerous awards in Slovakia, including the Martin Kusý Prize (twice) and the Aurel Stodola Gold Medal from the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
