REVITALIZATION OF THE CASTLE AND FARM BUILDING IN ŽITENICE
Architecture and Urbanism, MA diploma project

Annotation
The project focuses on the castle and the estate of historic farm building in the village of Žitenice, located in the Litoměřice district, within the protected landscape area of the Central Bohemian Uplands. It addresses the comprehensive revitalisation of the château grounds. The aim is to restore the deteriorating structures, return them to meaningful use, and sensitively introduce new functions that will serve both local residents and visitors. The castleu is newly designed to include functions such as a day care centre for seniors, spaces for community and leisure activities, a library, a municipal office, an information centre, a café with a bakery, and accommodation for the estate caretaker. The adjacent historic farm buildings will house additional functions including a distillery, workshops for traditional crafts, facilities for public cultural and social events, guest accommodation, and a pub with dining. The proposal seeks to preserve the historical character of the estate while integrating contemporary structural and technological elements. The result will be a multifunctional public space that connects community life, craftsmanship, leisure, and cultural heritage.
