HIGH SPEED TRAIN STATION KOŘENICE-BEČVÁRY
Architecture and Urbanism, MA diploma project

Annotation
The design of the transport terminal in the Kolín region solves the fundamental problem of low permeability of the landscape caused by fields, road network and the new high-speed line, which is located on the embankment. The terminal is integrated directly into the body of the railway embankment and includes a check-in hall with the necessary equipment, a P+R car park and a passage for pedestrians, cyclists and cars. This minimises the encroachment on high-quality agricultural land and improves transport connectivity. The new building allows direct and barrier-free transfers between conventional and high-speed rail, buses and car transport. The eastern part is used as a bus station, the western part as a recreational park. The car park can accommodate 586 vehicles. Terminal facilities are limited to a newsagency and a café. The proposal includes a new network of pedestrian and cycle routes linked to the wider infrastructure, complemented by landscape features, bio-corridors and a water retention reservoir. The design operates with coloured concrete and corten, which emphasises the technical character of the building and integrates it harmoniously into the landscape.
