Annotation
Sunday league football. A phenomenon that acts as a safety net of social capital across the whole country. It reaches its highest density in Prague. I want to explore the topic of amateur football within the context of Praguelooking at the borders, examining the periphery, those edge places of the city: villages and towns that joined Prague a century ago, but once functioned independently. Rural enclaves of lifeevery proper village has a church and a football pitch. I want to work with scaleif Eden is a football cathedral, then I want to work on chapels. Use the existing physical network and strengthen its potential as a social one. These are places where I believe football still has the power to build community, where people show up because theres little else, where matches draw even those who dont really follow the game. I want to cultivate these places without stripping them of their identity. To examine what still belongs to the local football culture and what is simply a leftoverborn of budget constraints and a lack of taste. To make these places welcoming even for non-football fans.To reconsider what still makes sense to include in the facilitieswhat still has purpose, where certain functions are worth maintaining. To reflect the organic, uneven growth of football infrastructure, the ongoing waves of repairs and improvements, often funded by local sponsors. To develop a form that is, in some ways, universal, but still respects characterevery club has its colors, its history, its legends.
