Hall 18 - Sports Center

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the conversion of former Production Hall 18, located within the Pragovka complex in the Vysočany district of Prague. This thesis proposes a new community oriented use for the industrial building, which stands as a testament to 20th century industrial architecture. The core objective of the project is to preserve the character of the building where feasible, while introducing a new function that meets contemporary building standards. A sports facility is proposed for the main hall, designed with respect for the existing wide-span grid of load-bearing columns. Intended exclusively for amateur sporting purposes, the facility aims to serve the newly developing residential community of Pragovka. The design emphasises verticality through a central atrium leading onto the main sports arena, thereby continuing the original spatial dynamic of the industrial hall. Ancillary, commercial and parking facilities are located to the peripheries, celebrating community at the centre of this project.
