CURRENTS OF HOME

Between the Elbe, a creek, family houses and a bypass, a new neighbourhood is taking shape. A place where people ride their bicycles, stroll through a park with mature trees, and where the noise of the city is balanced by the quiet of greenery. An area that once stood aside is becoming part of Mělníks living structure extending its rhythm, responding to its form, and opening a path between the landscape and the city. The design is built on the idea of connection of the green belt encircling the town, of a new cycle path linking the Elbe riverfront with the railway station, and of people with the place they inhabit. Apartment buildings, terraced houses, workshops, shops, sports grounds, and a parking structure are composed into a layout that is clear, open, and natural. At the heart of the quarter lies a park a quiet space for movement, rest, and encounter. This new district is not only a response to the need for housing, but an invitation to live in balance.
