The result of the entire design and prototyping process is a complete set of leather handbags called Écarts, which combines variability, functionality, craftsmanship and sustainability. The set consists of three thoughtfully connected parts - a large handbag with the option of changeable volume, a smaller handbag with its own drawstring system that serves to adjust the size and also functions as a handbag handle, and a small modular pouch/cardholder that can be worn with the large handbag or completely on its own. The name Écarts (from French - "deviation", "difference", "deviation" ) symbolizes the ability of individual handbags to change their volume, shape and function. It also refers to the use of secondary material (leftover leather from the automotive industry) and to the possibility of several ways of carrying each handbag, which together form a smaller collection. All three pieces in the collection are made from leftover leather from the automotive industry, which not only connects the project to the principles of sustainability, but also breaks the myth that fashion made from recycled and secondary materials is not visually appealing and cannot match the look and quality of pieces made from new materials.
