REVITALISATION OF MINING AREA PETR BEZRUČ IN SILESIAN OSTRAVA

Industrial areas are an important topic nowadays, because they used to have an essential impact in creating the face of cities as we know them now. The thesis follows the conclusion of my bachelor thesis that focused on economical use of this area and use it to create a new urban structure to reconnect the area with the surrounding city. The thesis focuses on three objects, two compressor buildings and a substation. The architectonic study puts these buildings to a new use without destroying its original construction and atmosphere. The first one is a library, made of two separate buildings, the original steel frame and a new building that respects the original one. The other is a sport centre, situated in old compression building. There is a theatre in the second compression building. It respects the structural elements of the original one and opens towards the mining tower.
