Method of clinched joint fields design for mechanical engineering practice

This research project deals with the issue of clinched joint fields. The grant aims to develop a method for the design of clinched joint fields which will correlate with real experiment results and will desccribe operational parameters of the joint and of the complete connection credibly. An extensive review focused on modeling of material reshaping processes regarding to the study of mechanical properties of clinched joint will be the initial part of presented project. Based on the this review and other theoretical background, own experimental method and geometry of test specimens will be designed and FEM simulation models for defined types of clinched joint fields will be created and performed. All these fields calculated will be tested on manufactured specimens which will be tested in strain gauge measurements in several load manners. Using obtained data, the FEM models and real measurements will be correlated to each other to evaluate their validity and reliability.
