Miloš Forman Square
SS 2026
During the summer semester, we will be exploring the content and architectural form of plots in the very center of the city. One of the assignments we have chosen is the area in front of the Fairmont Golden Prague Hotel (formerly the InterContinental Hotel) in Prague's Old Town. What kind of place is it? Should there be a square, a park, a city block, or commercial space? Finding the optimal solution will certainly be an interesting task.
Architect Marek Tichý, who was a member of the jury of the recently concluded competition, has promised to show us around the site and provide us with detailed information.
We have also asked architect Mahulena Svobodová, a member of the team working on the Prague Heritage Reserve (PPR) territorial study, to collaborate with us.
Lannova Gap Site
SS 2026
In the summer semester, we will be looking for content and form for plots in the very center of the city. We have selected two plots on Lannova Street, which can be developed separately or together as a complex of buildings. Several architectural competitions have been held in the past for the corner of Revoluční and Lannova Streets, but none of the designs have been implemented yet. This is a highly visible and busy location that deserves attention.
We will begin with a detailed research of the site and determine the purpose of the building - a gallery? A shopping center? Offices? Apartments?
It is possible to design only the building at the end of Revoluční Street or the building between Lannova, Nové Mlýny, and Novomlýnská Streets, or it is possible to address both plots together.
We have asked architect Mahulena Svobodová, a member of the team working on the Prague Heritage Reserve (PPR) territorial study, to collaborate with us.
Volyně complex
SS 2026
The area next to the Volyně swimming pool with a former laundry factory can be converted into a school, apartments, senior housing, etc. The area also includes production buildings intended for demolition – in this part, it is possible to consider a new building with a similar purpose.
The design will be preceded by an analysis of the area and valuable existing buildings and consideration of the ideal use. The design itself can be approached as a civic building, residential building, or a complex of buildings.
