The new year of the Kaplicky Internship competition offers a unique opportunity for students and graduates of architectural disciplines at Czech universities. The author of this year's winning project on a free topic is completing a three-month paid internship in the London studio of David Chipperfield Architects. The competition, reminiscent of the legacy of the famous architect Jan Kaplický, is organized by the Bakala Foundation in cooperation with the Design Museum in London and the Kaplicky Center Endowment Fund.
The winner of last year's Kaplicky Internship competition was Ondřej Pokoj, a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague, who impressed the jury with his project of a transfer hub for Prague Airport called Transferium. Earlier this year, he completed a three-month internship at Thomas Heatherwick's London studio and is now a permanent member of his almost 200-member team. For the second year in a row, the winner of the 2018 competition, Petr Kousal, also remains in London. After the internship, he started working permanently in the Adjaye Associates studio.
