Visiting professor at the Faculty of Architecture CTU Maike van Stiphout is a landscape architect and founder and director of DS landscape architecture. In the winter semester 2026/27, she is leading a visiting studio at the Faculty of Architecture CTU together with Zuzana Jančovičová. She also teaches at universities in the Netherlands and abroad and serves on juries and quality teams. She is the author of The First Guide for Nature Inclusive Design and The Second Guide for Nature Inclusive Design, which offer principles and tools for designing cities with a stronger integration of nature.
In her lecture Re-wild the City – Designing Quality of Life for All, Maike van Stiphout will present nature-inclusive approaches and policies introduced by major Dutch cities since 2016, and more recently at the national level. She will focus on their results and on how these approaches are being further developed in newly built, dense inner-city projects. Through examples from the Netherlands and abroad, including projects by her own office, she will show how nature-inclusive design is influencing architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning.
