Department of Urban Design

The design studios of the Department of Urbanism will focus on the theme of spatial justice throughout the Winter and Summer Semesters of the 2026/2027 academic year. The studios will draw on the ideas of the American urbanist and geographer Edward W. Soja.

Soja developed the concept of the Just City most notably in his seminal book Seeking Spatial Justice (2010), which is widely regarded as one of the most influential works in contemporary critical urban theory.

The Department of Urbanism at the Faculty of Architecture, CTU in Prague is launching the film series City and Film in the summer semester of 2026. The series focuses on the ways in which the phenomenon of the city is portrayed on the film screen. Selected films will present the city across different historical periods, social contexts, and thematic perspectives.

The series is open to all students and faculty members of FA. Admission is free.
