Structural plan Tábor

ZS 2023

Assignment

The structural plan is an urban planning method developed in Belgium (where I have been living and working for 45 years) and which has become the main urban planning tool since the beginning of this century. I myself applied it many times when designing the structure of Flemish cities. It is a thorough analysis of the current state of the city, its spatial and functional structures. Alternatives for future development must then be proposed at various scales. In other words, it is about strengthening the urban qualities and weakening its negative aspects. We will apply this method in the city of Tábor.

Central to our studio will be the integration of the following topics and perspectives into thinking about the future of the city, from analysis to design. These topics will determine the overall approach to the semester project. We will be a kind of urban planning laboratory.

1.     Recyclable city

2.     General sustainability

3.     Climate warming

4.     Energy self-sufficiency

5.     Transportation

6.     Layering of functions – hybrid city

7.     Stratification of industrial zones

8.     Smart Cities

9.     Open city (social dimension)

10. 15 minute city

11. Experimental approach – to think in alternatives

12. European dimension (New European Bauhaus)

Cooperation and support

1.     Intercommunale Leiedal (IPR Kortrijk)

2.     FA KU Leuven

3.     EU Brussels – New European Bauhaus

Inner periphery of Slatina, Prague 10

ZS 2023

Assignment

Even in a big city like Prague, there are a number of places, enclaves, which, although they are close to the center, are isolated from the city, both physically and mentally, emotionally. They are often called the "inner periphery". These places contain a whole range of possibilities for future development (or "non-development"). We will deal with this topic in the Slatiny locality in Prague 10.

Central to our studio will be the integration of the following topics and perspectives into thinking about the future of the city, from analysis to design. These topics will determine the overall approach to the semester project. We will be a kind of urban planning laboratory.
