Two new studios coming this academic year

Šimon Vojtík will lead the studio focusing on urban planning and urban design in the urban environment with an emphasis on urban detail. Josef Čančík will be in charge of the new studio of design fundamentals at the Department of Architectural Design III. In addition to the studio heads, 17 positions of assistant professors and lecturers were also filled in the selection process.

MgA. Josef Čančík

He studied at the Department of Architecture at UMPRUM in the studio of Architecture 1 of prof. akad. arch. Jindřich Smetana, where he worked as his assistant until 2014. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Under the umbrella of his own practice ECHTarchitektura, he works on a wide range of mostly intimate themes, from the interior to the family house to public space and temporary ephemeral architecture. From 2009–2018 he participated in the architectural design of the International Documentary Film Festival in Jihlava. He has been working at the Faculty of Architecture of the CTU since 2015. Together with David Kraus, he led the studio, nominated three times for the Olověný Dušan, in the academic year 2018/2019 he was assistant to visiting professor Vasa Perović, then assistant in the studios Fránek and ZAN Brožová.

Ing. arch. Šimon Vojtík, Ph.D.

He completed his master's and postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Architecture of the CTU in Prague. In 2013, he founded the ARCHUM architekti studio, which focuses on urbanism, spatial planning and architecture as a complex discipline developing the potential of place, sustainable living environment and cultivated public space. He is the author of a number of zoning and regulatory plans, urban planning studies and architectural realizations of mostly residential buildings, such as studies of the revitalization of the Baba housing estate in Prague 6, Seifert Street in Prague 3 or the Mže River embankment in Pilsen. He worked as a senior designer of regulatory plans for the city of Kladno, was a member of the Prague 10 Urban Development Commission and since 2017 has been the municipal architect of Blatná.
