Center for the development of soul and body – Bílý, Modrý lom, Tetín

SS 2026

You will design a new center for the development of the soul and body as an autonomous architectural structure based on one clear principle of order, which the students define themselves. The center should be a contemporary interpretation of the archetype of the house of silence, order and rules.

Location
Former Bílý, Modrý lom, Tetín
This is an abandoned quarry with a distinctive topography and limited vegetation. The location offers a contrast between the empty industrial landscape and the natural horizon, which allows for the definition of autonomous architecture. Access to the site will be defined by the students; the emphasis is on the relationship between the building and the surrounding landscape.

Order
Each student will choose their own order, which determines the principles of operation and organization of the center. The order may concern:
•    time order – daily rhythm of meditation, work, silence
•    spatial order – courtyard, corridor, accommodation units
•    construction order – grid, wall thickness, material
•    lighting order – rhythm of openings, orientation, quality of light
This order must be clearly legible at all scales (ground plan, section, axonometry).

Possible inspiration
Reduced archetype of monastery; cells (individual spaces, living space), refectory / common space for meals, chapel / meditation space, space for work / workshop / library, courtyard / inner garden

The program is deliberately limited so that students focus on the order, proportions and quality of space, not on additional functions such as a café or guest accommodation.

Hybrid farm – “Edible” Campus Dejvice

SS 2026

Food plays a fundamental role in our health. High-quality and healthy cuisine is based on high-quality ingredients.

The assignment of the semester project is to find opportunities within the CTU campus in Dejvice where it would be possible to grow and cook from these ingredients as a supplement to the offer of existing canteens.

The result may be roof gardens and greenhouses, hybrid buildings combining a dining room and a farm or winter gardens, pavilions with a dining room, growing sectors and meeting places.

The project should examine the spatial, operational and environmental contexts of connecting food production with everyday campus life.

The goal is to design a realistic and inspiring model of an urban campus with partial food self-sufficiency. Students can choose the scope of the assignment and create working groups. They can solve the assignment in the scope of a pavilion, extension, building or conceptual urban planning.
