In the year 2007 construction boomed in Europe. This period of growth has lately proved unbalanced. In 2007 in Ireland 275.000 people were employed in construction compared to 410.000 in the Czech Republic. Nevertheless, both subject countries experienced a shortage of workers. The solution came in the form of organized and spontaneous migration into both countries. This paper describes experience with communication with non-English speaking workers in Ireland compared with results of a survey conducted among the Czech construction companies.
