Effects of Thyroxin and Estrogen Administration on Bone Mass, Mineral Content and Bone Strength in Male Rats

Thyrotoxicosis increases bone turnover in favor of net bone resorption. Estrogens show a profound effect on bone homeostasis by protecting the skeleton against resorbing action of parathormone. The present study was undertaken to find out the effects of a standard dose of estradiol upon bone metabolism in adult male rats with and without hyperthyroidism.
