We present a prototype of Surveillance System developed as part of an indoor navigation system. By employing computer vision, it aims to increase the safety and security in large public buildings. The related indoor navigation system for hospitals uses a video detection for identification of navigated users. For purposes of a Surveillance System, we utilize video streams from various navigation system terminals. Our design is based on a user study with hospital employees (N = 6) and security staff (N = 7). Proposed prototypes have been evaluated with representatives of the target user audience; Lo-Fi prototype (N = 3), Hi-Fi prototype (N = 7). Results of the evaluation suggest that the Surveillance System can contribute to improving hospital safety and security and increasing staff efficiency.
