Vera Machoninova and Vladimir Machonin belong to the strong generation of architects, which has brought Czechoslovakian architecture back to the international scene in the late sixties. Thermal Hotel, Kotva Department Store, the House of Apartment Culture, or the Embassy of Czechoslovakia in Berlin speak the language of contemporary Late Modern architecture fluently and perhaps even playfully.
