Anotace
S obdobím Václava Havla v úřadu prezidenta republiky v 90. letech 20. století je spojena proměna hradního areálu v sídlo hlavy demokratického státu, které je zároveň otevřené veřejnosti. Vedle nezbytné údržby a péče o památku bylo zrealizováno několik rekonstrukcí a novostaveb, které doplnily soudobou historickou vrstvu do tkáně Pražského hradu, některé záměry zůstaly pouze na papíře. Tato kapitola je první publikací, která shrnuje nejdůležitější projekty v areálu Pražského hradu v 90. letech.

Anotace
Zpřístupnění areálu Pražského hradu veřejnosti bylo jedním z hlavních cílů prezidenta Václava Havla v 90. letech 20. století. Představoval si, že bude možné nejen navštívit nejvýznamnější památky české státnosti a historické expozice, ale i programy současného umění, že tu budou lidi trávit volný čas v kultivovaném prostředí zahrad a parků. Pražský hrad se měl konečně stát živou součástí města při zachování své výjimečnosti.

Anotace
This paper explores a body-centered approach to understanding walkability, emphasizing walking as a sensory, spatial, and symbolic experience rather than merely a mode of mobility. Moving past conventional metrics that taper walkability to physical infrastructure, it reviews narrative and embodied research methods to examine how urban environments are perceived and experienced in relation to walkability. Using Prague as a case study, this paper underscores the importance of an expanded, experiential perspective—one that recognizes the complex interactions between bodily presence, spatial form, and urban atmosphere. It advocates for methodologies that engage with the lived, sensory dimensions of walking to more fully understand how walkability is shaped and experienced.

Anotace
Learning about the urban environment and ways to design and create it can often be a very abstract and challenging prospect for architecture and urban design students. Actual projects offer opportunities to educate about contemporary urban design tendencies. We have created a new study and research plan for last-year students at the Faculty of Architecture of CTU in Prague, which aims to tackle two contemporary educational challenges. The first challenge is the need for practical realness in design studio projects, which rarely deal with aspects such as finance, timescale, the developer, and the investor. Secondly, contemporary sustainability concepts are yet to become indispensable to urban design education and practice. Aiming to remedy that, we have designed a critical-analytical database of recent urban projects. Apart from basic information, such as authors and visual documentation, students provide additional details and confront the author's description of the project with their interpretation. They produce a critical review of the project and a multi-criterion evaluation. The focus is on sustainability, accessibility, and aesthetics, referencing The EU Green Deal 2020, The New European Bauhaus 2020, and Davos Declaration 2018. Students evaluate how successfully current urban design principles, such as mixing uses and forms, resilience, energy efficiency, creating places for people, managing the investment, and others, are applied. By confronting actual projects with these questions, students are encouraged to rethink their learned design approaches, setting them up for success in their future practice. Furthermore, the database serves as a knowledge base and reference for other faculty students.

This research is mainly concentrated on the post-mining lands of Ústecký Kraj (Ústí nad Labem Region) - Districts of Ústí nad Labem, Teplice, Most, Chomutov in the Czech Republic. The region of North-West Bohemia (Ústec-ký Kraj) has always attracted the attention of the extractive industries in all their various guises over the centuries as a result of the rich mineral deposits found there. It is no coincidence that the hills bordering the region are known collectively as the Ore Mountains. The discovery of silver and tin in these mountains in the 12th century triggered the slow but steady settlement of the area. However, the discovery of coal lying alluringly close to the land surface finally unleashed the full panoply of extractive technology on the region. In the century and a half since the Industrial Revolution, this region's physical, cultural and social landscape has been irreparably altered in the scramble to uncover the vast deposits of brown coal in the North Bohemian basin stretch-ing roughly from Kadaň to Ústí nad Labem. Each city affected by the mining activities has significant characteristics of its own in terms of history, culture and land. Even though post-mining lands are a problem that affects the entire Ústecký Kraj, reclamation solutions for these lands must be specifically adapted to the cities and inhabitants that are local. Additionally, to ensure sustainable solutions and a sense of belonging for the living communities. Therefore this paper proposes an architectural study framework to recognise the global perspectives, strategies and policies in line with mining lands rec-lamation and systematically analyses the influencing factors of urban innova-tion and development in Ústecký Kraj.

Anotace
Architekturu osmdesátých let nelze nahlížet pouze optikou (oficiálního) dobového tisku nebo dochovaných archiválií. Každodenní realita stavební praxe se často ubírala mnohem spletitějšími cestami, jež musely zdolávat krkolomná úskalí pozdně normalizačního života a neviditelnou ale naprosto zásadní topografii mezilidských vztahů. Osobní osudy a vzpomínky aktérů dobové architektonické scény proto představují velmi cenný zdroj poznání. Rozhovory v této knize se soustředí zejména na mapování výzev, kterým architekti osmdesátých let čelili; a důvtipných kliček i aktivit, jimiž se vyrovnávali s nepředvídatelnými hybnými silami v nesvobodné, ekonomicky a společensky stagnující zemi. Vzpomínky nám dávají nahlédnout do světa, jenž je pro nás ve své zamotané rázovitosti už nejen obtížně pochopitelný, ale i překvapivě vzdálený. Přesto (a někdy i právě proto) v něm vznikala výtečná architektura.

Strengthening the place quality and the balance between different users of the traditional central or local main street with mixed functions is the most topical issue for all modern developed cities, where car traffic and transport infrastructure dominate over a wide group of other transportation modes and land uses. Traffic hierarchization and segregation principles, in addition to the division of responsibility areas in streets between different professions, created two different, incompatible worlds — the highway and the public place. Nowadays, we can create a good highway for cars and perfect places for people individually, but when we try to combine them, the worst public space appears. It prevents the existence of mixed-use streets (in both theory and legislation) and it still weakens their place quality in real life. The need to find a more suitable for mixed-use localities traffic-calming approach in the Czech Republic is emphasized by the world phenomenon of shared space.

V akademickém roce 2017/2018 proběhl již třetí ročník mezifakultní spolupráce mezi Fakultou dopravní a Fakultou architektury, ČVUT v Praze. Na tvorbě veřejného prostoru se podílejí různé profese, mimo jiné dopravní inženýři a architekti. Obě profese mají rozdílné cíle, navrhují veřejný prostor ze svého úhlu pohledu a kladou na něj rozdílné požadavky, které mohou být vzájemně neslučitelné (např. kapacita komunikace a plynulost dopravního proudu oproti pobytové a estetické hodnotě). Tento rozpor lze překonat pouze kompromisem, který je postaven na dialogu obou profesí. Bohužel tento dialog v praxi neprobíhá tak často, jak by mohl. Proto byla započata spolupráce dopravních inženýrů a architektů již na úrovni studentů, kteří ve smíšených skupinách řeší problémy z praxe. Výsledkem jsou veřejné prostory navržené s citem pro estetiku a obyvatelnost, které zároveň ve svých parametrech odpovídají skutečným potřebám dopravní obslužnosti. Tato prvotní zkušenost s druhou profesí připravuje studenty na budoucí praxi a dává příslib vzniku kvalitních veřejných prostorů.
